I'm back from my trip to General Conference and to see Matt before his deployment, and I'm wishing I knew how to get to somewhere else: away from this horrible war in Iraq, and toward a church that gets over its homophobia and finally, fully includes and affirms gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered folks.
Both seem too often driven by fear--fear we've been tricked into. And now we have to live in this meantime, trying to get to a better way.

Great photo!
Is that Fort Worth?
And good question.
How do we get there from here?
I'm still pondering, but I feel blessed, truly, for the opportunity to see the Spirit move through General Conference.
HT, thanks for posting that photo --it's an interesting one.
Thank you also for your comments re the UMC general conference.
I was orginally ordained in the UMC in the North Texas Annual Conference [just next door to Ft. Worth] but resigned my credentials in 1993 to take up ministry in a denomination that was fully inclusive of LGBT people.
I keep praying that the UMC will come around, because then I think the other mainlines at least will follow suit ...
Matt and I found the "no right turn on grace street" sign in wilmington, nc.
I can't agree more with your feelings at this point. Good to finally meet you in person at GC.
